Dr. Berhanu Nega says he is plotting revolution in Ethiopia

Current leader of the exiled Ethiopian opposition group “Ginbot 7” and the former Mayor-elect of Addis Ababa city Dr. Berhanu Nega said he is planning to trigger Tunisia-style revolution against Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.

We are doing everything we can to spark a North Africa style revolt in Ethiopia,” declared Berhanu. During an interview with EthioTube media this week, the US based economist Dr. Berhanu said he believes an Ethiopian revolution will not be similar to the bloodshed in Libya. He claims the Ethiopian army has begun to protest against the Meles government and it will take the side of the people. “The army wants democracy just like other Ethiopians and the army does not want to be held responsible for crimes against civilians,” Dr. Berhanu added.

Meles is also trying to distract the public and use scare tactics, according to Berhanu. The state run television controlled by the Meles Zenawi regime censored news reports of the nonviolent uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt, but Meles’s ETV television program extensively reported the bloody quagmire in Libya. “This was a signal that Meles wanted to send to scare Ethiopian people” declared Berhanu.

In August 2009, the Ethiopian government convicted Berhanu in absentia. Several democracy activists and civil society members have also been convicted by the Meles regime which has ruled the country for nearly 20 years. After the recent national elections allegedly rigged by the ruling party, the country solidified its return back to a one-party state comparable to the era of former Marxist leader Mengistu Haile Mariam.

Some opposition youth activists have announced May 28 as a national day of protest against the Meles government. According to Berhanu, it will not take long for democracy to thrive in Ethiopia and he hopes to return back to Ethiopia by the next Easter holiday.

Dear Jimman Times
It really is thoughtful of you to let people express thier minds. thanks indeed.

I have already loft any penny trust on the so called Dr. What I unfortunately am hoping is that the current regime rectify its misdeeds and do the better. That's by far the best I can expect and am committed to rigoreously involve myself.
Let democract prevail in Ethiopia!

Dr Berhanu Negga Courageous leadership
Dear Dr Negga,

I think you are a courageous leader trying to lay the foundations of a genuine democracy in ethiopia. We have seen what the EPRDF have managed to do despite being in power for over 20 years. They have not insituted a genuine democracy but have infact stiffled and besmirched the names of those who are struggling to lay the foundations for such a democracy. We have had 20 years of nothing but lies, deception and gerrymandering on the part of those in power. Their abhorrent lust for power has made them lose sight of the fact that power is a means to an end and not an end in itself. I hope your struggle continues and hope to help in any way possible.

You and the likes never wakeup, even if you have your shity Doctrate degree. I feel sorry who ever taught you in your university or I felt sory for your father who raised you with full of lungs instead of heart. Birisha, if you got real ball, go to your country and fight there in Ethiopia; other than that, from now on wards we will fight you and your stupid Grazmach, Degazmach, Barnbaras and Majuka's pupis here in the west.
When the revolution rippen and ready to be eaten, then it is the heart of the people which ignites the revolution, not your trash mentality. Nobody will stops the revolution when it is ready and engaged.

Coward Birhanu?
Blaming Birhanu for the death of his sisters does not make any sense, like all of us he fled away from the brutality massacre of the military junta. You go around and check many of us who fled in every corner of the world our mothers fathers and younger siblings were affected with the blind philosophy of Derg. For your info.Birhanu has remembered his siblings and all other Ethiopians in the preface of his book "ye nesanet goh..."The question now is not Derg,it is the present tribal regime that you should worry about.please leave Birhanu's family in peace.Worry about this vulture called Meles and yourself.Your time is numbered. We will take back our Ethiopia from the divisive and narrow tribal called Zenawi. We will build Ethiopia on a true democratic foundation you are invited too.
Down with tribalism
Down with Meles
up with united Ethiopians who are about to write their own constitution.

What do Sarah Palin and Birhanu Nega have in common?
They both bailed out from their post to 'lead' their country! Bire tought being mayor is not sufficient and he wanted to be the PM of Ethiopia. What the public think of him is that he could not become a shoe shiner of the PM .

Self Appointed Berhanu
General public of Ethiopians are more conscious than ever and they don’t come to any kind of decision to do anything without analyzing.

Berhanu became mayor of Addis but he didn’t serve a public as a mayor yet wants to be a leader of Ethiopia. First know how to manage your own small economy that is NOT taking you to any step to run your small Ginbot seven party. Your part, mostly based in USA collapsed as many of the disagreed with your misleading policy. Yet you want to run a bid country like Ethiopia with bid ever recorded economy in history of Ethiopia with current leadership. Shame on you! How could you keepattempting to introduce violence to peaceful Ethiopia. You will not welcome NOT only by Ethiopian people but within your own ethnic group called Gurage. I am a doctor by the way saving lives NOT the other way around.
