New OLF group rejects Oromia secession from Ethiopia

An OLF splinter group (Jijirama-OLF) created by Ex-OPDO officials has held a meeting in the United States and appears to have "amended" the OLF program to embrace Ethiopian federalism and reject the Oromia secession agenda. The other OLF group led by Dawud Ibsa has accused Jijirama-OLF of illegally using the OLF label and logo to make misleading press releases.

The Oromo Liberation Front (the OLF) National Council has held its historic meeting on December 30 and 31, 2011.

The OLF National Council has examined all aspects of the Oromo peoples’ struggle; the political program of the OLF; the current conditions of the Ethiopian peoples under the dictatorship of Meles Zenewi; and the importance of working with all democratic forces in Ethiopian to end the suffering.

The OLF National Council also focused on the timely demand of working with other democratic forces in forming the new Ethiopia that will guarantee and protect the fundamental rights of all peoples in Ethiopia. The new social contract will & should be based on the free will and consent of all peoples in Ethiopia. The previous style that claims “I know for you” should be abolished and replaced with a new vision that is based on peoples' consent and free will.

To fulfill this vision and play crucial roles, not only for the Oromo people, but for all Ethiopian people, the OLF National Council pursuant to the power vested to it by the OLF National Congress effectively amended the OLF political program today, January 1, 2012.
The New OLF political program will accept the new federal democratic republic of Ethiopia that will work for the betterment of all of its citizens, neighboring countries and international communities. Informing the new federal democratic republic of Ethiopia, the OLF will respect and honor all decisions the Ethiopian peoples will make using their right of self-determination.

Therefore, we call upon all Oromo political forces and others forces in Ethiopia to join us to implement this new vision.

The OLF National Council also appeals to International Community to stop supporting the dictatorship of Meles Zenewi’s regime that has engaged in terrorizing the Ethiopian people, selling the precious resources of the country to the highest bidders, and the government that does not respect the principles of democracy, human rights and rule of law.

OlD OLF Real enemy of Oromo, They divided Oromo by village. There password is expiared. New OLF knew how to fight and best chooce for oromo people. By the time General Kemel came to old OLF Group, They don't have any milletry, excpt their Radio propoganda.

Unity-deceiving word

Some comments try to convince us the importance of alliance between OLF and other Ethiopians. But I have a question on what other Ethiopians means? OLF has already alliance with somalis , Sidamas and others. Are thiese people not Ethiopians? Does Ethiopian means Habeshian?

Even alliance with habeshas is not rejected by OLF from the time of its creation. But this people /habeshas want to mould OLF in the way that maintains their supremacy. If we join Amhara forces to fight and tople tigres what is the advantage? This people whom we want to empower were worse than tigres in treating oromos. Those of us who have been in Diaspora for decades know what we have been through. We have been lied to by OLF leaders for years. Not only that but they deceived us. They only come down to our level when they come for fund raising. Although we gave them everything they asked for, they didn't give us anything in return. Rather they continued to disappoint us. The most heinous crime that they committed was against our gallant fighters in Oromia, they locked them up in camps and told the TPLF to turn the camp into detention center.

There are also numerous cases of assassinations of Oromos who truly believed in independence. God is my witness, I always ask myself what do really OLF leaders (old Lenco, Dima, Dawit, new Lenco...) want. I just can’t figure out what their goal is...Then came along Aman Kedir or whatever his name is...It turned out he was a liar too.

Now, I don’t know about the General, but I am willing to give him a chance. At least he knows how to fight unlike other OLF leaders who know only how to count $.

U go general, change is what we need.

The Unity of the Oromos with other Ethiopian brothers and sisters shortens the woyane reign of terror and the suffering of our people. The step taken by the General and his group should be encouraged and supported. A free and democratic Ethiopia with individual right is good for all except the looters and killers who are afraid of justice.

Still Adored by its citizens

For those who do not know or deny that the OLF is close to the hearts of vast majority of Oromos in the planet. better way

The current approach is much better than what used to be said by the traditional OLF. Trying to move alone will not lead to the intended target. the political approach needs to be inclusive of everyone - not only Oromos. The current approach may take u a little forward to get support of others.

Who knows in future, there may be a time for proper and professional type of face-to-face negotiation between OLF and EPRDF - i wish the day to come and both side to compromise thier different view ... come up with conclusion that benefit all (Oromos and non-Oromos)
