The government of Meles Zenawi has claimed that Ethiopia's 2009 economic growth was over 10 percent but the figures are disputed by the IMF and other world institutions. The U.N. Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro said in Addis Ababa today that Ethiopia's 2009 economic growth is expected to be just 1.7 percent, according to UPI.
Migro said Ethiopia under Meles Zenawi will also not reach the anti-poverty goals by 2015.
